North India cities boil as heatwave soars

Delhi’s Najafgarh district in Delhi recorded a temperature of 47.8C

Several cities of northern India, including the national capital Delhi are reeling under a severe heatwave with temperatures soaring above 45C over the weekend.

On Sunday, weather department said, Najafgarh district in Delhi recorded a temperature of 47.8C, the highest in the country this season.

The department has said heat spell is likely to continue this week.

“Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions most likely to continue over plains of Northwest India and Heat wave conditions over north Madhya Pradesh & Gujarat State during next 5 days,” the Indian Met department said on Monday
